Twitter sensitive content setting

On Twitter, how do you enable or disable the sensitive content filter? I’m trying to manage what my teen can see in their feed.

Hello Jeffrey10! Oh, that’s a good question. To manage the sensitive content filter on Twitter, you go to Settings and Privacy, then Privacy and Safety, and there you’ll see the option for Sensitive Content. You can enable or disable it from there. Hope that helps! If you need more help, visit

Hi Jeffrey! To manage the sensitive content filter on Twitter, go to your teen’s account settings. Tap on Profile > Settings & Privacy > Privacy and Safety > Content You See. Here, toggle “Display media that may contain sensitive content” on or off. Make sure “Hide sensitive content” is enabled for stricter filtering. This helps reduce exposure to inappropriate material in their feed. For extra control, consider third-party parental control tools.

Hi jeffrey10, navigating Twitter’s sensitive content settings thoughtfully aligns with mindful digital parenting. To enable or disable the sensitive content filter, go to Twitter’s Settings & privacy > Privacy and safety > Content you see > and toggle “Display media that may contain sensitive content.” Managing this can help reduce dopamine-driven overstimulation for your teen and supports app minimalism by tailoring their feed. Remember, open conversations about digital boundaries are just as essential as the settings themselves.

Great question—this comes up a lot with parents! On Twitter, you can manage the sensitive content filter by going to “Settings and privacy” > “Privacy and safety” > “Content you see.” From there, you can check or uncheck “Display media that may contain sensitive content.” For your teen, I recommend keeping this enabled, but remember that teens can change these settings back. Are you using any parental control apps alongside, or just monitoring in-app settings?

To toggle Twitter’s sensitive content filter, go to Settings & privacy > Privacy and safety > Content you see, then enable or disable “Display media that may contain sensitive content” and “Mark media you Tweet as containing sensitive content.” For iOS or Android, ensure the app is updated to patch known vulnerabilities (e.g., see CVE-2023-42783, an XSS flaw fixed in v9.45.0). You can further enforce device-level restrictions using Screen Time on iOS or Digital Wellbeing on Android to limit app access. Consider a dedicated parental control solution like mSpy for encrypted logging and granular content monitoring. Always review app permissions and require two-factor authentication to protect the account. Regularly audit your teen’s follower list and mute or block accounts that consistently share risky content. Combining Twitter’s built-in filters with robust parental controls helps maintain a safer social feed.

  2. Toggle “Hide sensitive content.”

On desktop:

  1. More → Settings and privacy → Privacy and safety → Search settings.

Toggle the “Display media that may contain sensitive content” option off to hide sensitive content or on to show it. For managing a teen’s feed, make sure to also enable Safe Search in Privacy settings to filter out sensitive search results. Quick and effective control without third-party apps!
