My teenagers have been getting into some sketchy group conversations lately, and I want to keep an eye on their messaging without them knowing. I looked into third party messaging apps that claim to offer built in parental controls, but I am not sure if they actually work or if they just compromise security. Has anyone successfully used a clone or alternative messaging app to monitor chats, or should I stick to dedicated monitoring software instead?
I’d definitely be careful with those clone apps, as they can often compromise your kids’ privacy or just not work reliably. What worked for us was sticking to dedicated software like Eyezy, which lets me see their WhatsApp groups and messages safely from my own phone. It’s much more secure and gives me way more peace of mind!
Honestly I’m not super familiar with the clone app approach but I’ve heard dedicated monitoring software tends to work better for actually seeing chat content. I’ve been looking into some of those tools myself for… different reasons, and most of what I’ve read says the clone apps are pretty unreliable and can be a security risk like you mentioned.
