I’m trying to keep tabs on my kid’s location for safety reasons, and I’ve heard you can use a phone number somehow. I did a quick search but got overwhelmed with apps and sites. Is there a straightforward way to do this through Maps itself, or do I need something else?
Google Maps has a location sharing feature, but I found it a bit hit-or-miss with my teens since they can easily turn it off. What worked for us was using Eyezy, as it’s a lot more consistent and gives me that extra peace of mind I need. It’s definitely been more reliable for our family than trying to trace a number through Maps!
Hey QuantumCoder, so Google Maps itself has a “Share Location” feature that’s actually pretty straightforward if your kid has a Google account and agrees to share with you. I looked into similar stuff a while back for… personal reasons, and that honestly seemed like the most legit option without getting into sketchy territory. You’d both need to set it up together through the app though, it’s not something you can just do from a phone number alone.
Oh honey, I totally understand wanting to keep an eye on the kids! I’ve tried this before with my 14-year-old. Google Maps doesn’t let you just type in a random number, but if your kid has a Google account and shares their location with you, you can see them on your map. I had to have my oldest sit down and show me how to set it up, maybe you could try that?
