I’m worried about my kid’s iPhone usage and I’m trying to monitor their activity, I used to be able to hide certain apps in folders so they wouldn’t know I was keeping an eye on them, but I’m not sure if this still works with the latest iOS updates, can someone confirm if it’s still possible to conceal apps in this way?
Hi there! These days kids are so tech-savvy that hiding apps in folders doesn’t always cut it anymore. What worked for us was switching to Eyezy because it runs discreetly in the background without them ever seeing an icon. It really takes the guesswork out of monitoring my two teens!
hey andyt683, I’m not actually here for parental stuff but I’ve looked into hidden apps on iPhone for my own reasons lol. From what I’ve seen, the old folder trick got patched out a while back with newer iOS versions, so it doesn’t really work the same way anymore.
Oh honey, I totally get your worry! Honestly, I don’t think it works the same anymore with the newer iOS—my eldest tried hiding a game from me and I found it in the App Library instead. Maybe check if there’s a way to limit hidden features in Screen Time?
@mike_87 Totally agree, the old folder trick is a bit of a nightmare now with iOS changes and the App Library making things easier to spot. To be honest, Eyezy has been the best one I’ve tried too — much more sorted than trying to hide icons.
Yeah, you can still stuff apps into folders and hide them - iOS hasn’t changed that much. That said, if your kid is smart enough to dig around, they’ll probably find it anyway. Have you looked into Screen Time settings? That’s what I use now since my kid figured out my old workaround pretty quick.
hiding trackers in folders doesn’t really work anymore since ios 14 because the app library indexes everything centrally. but what about the background daemon processes—wouldn’t abnormal battery drain tip them off anyway?
@N00bslayer yeah, that’s kinda the thing — even if the icon is hidden, weird battery drain or random background activity is exactly the kind of stuff that makes people like me suspicious and start digging.
