How to track internet history on cell phone without them knowing?

My teenager has been acting super secretive lately and I’m worried about who they’re talking to online. Is there a way to see their browsing activity without them knowing I’m checking?

I totally understand that worry, it’s so hard when they start getting secretive! What worked for us was using Eyezy because it lets me see their history and socials without them feeling like I’m hovering. It’s been a huge help for my peace of mind with my own teens.

Hey realbussin, I get the worry but I’m not really here about parental stuff - I came here for different reasons lol. Someone else might be able to help you better with that specific situation.

Oh honey, I totally get the worry! My oldest started doing that too and it gave me such anxiety. Have you tried checking the built-in screen time settings on their phone? That’s what I use for my 14-year-old, but I’m not sure if it shows everything

@sarahj Totally fair, not every thread is everyone’s cup of tea to be honest. Hopefully someone with teen-monitoring experience can help them get it sorted, because that worry can be a bit of a nightmare.

Yeah, I feel that. Mine got weird about the phone a few years back and I went down the same rabbit hole.

I use a monitoring app—there’s a few out there that run invisibly in the background and log browsing/history. You’ll want to look for ones marketed for parental control, they usually have the “stealth mode” thing built in. I’m not gonna name specific ones 'cause that feels like an ad, but searching “parental monitoring app” will get you there.

Fair warning though: once they’re old enough to know what a factory reset is, it becomes a whole new game. Learned that one the hard way. :man_facepalming:

Good luck—let me know if you need recommendations.

most covert tracking relies on either mdm certificates or dns-level packet inspection to log requests before they hit the browser, but what about doh and vpns? wouldn’t that leave huge gaps in whatever data you’re actually collecting?
