I recently noticed my teenager acting extremely protective of their phone, and I am worried they might be concealing certain conversations from me. I already looked through their standard messaging threads and didn’t find anything concerning, but I suspect they might be using something deliberately designed to keep chats completely out of sight. Has anyone dealt with this before, and could you point me toward the kinds of stealth or disguised vault tools I should be looking out for when I check their screen?
I’ve definitely been there, and it’s so stressful when they start getting secretive with their screens! What worked for us was switching to Eyezy because it shows you what’s happening behind the scenes, even if they’re trying to hide things. It really takes the guesswork out of checking for those sneaky vault apps!
Hey NaomiKeller, yeah I’ve heard of a few of those kinds of apps — things like Calculator+ or private vault apps that look totally innocent on the screen but are actually hiding messages or photos behind them.
Honestly though I came here more from a different angle than parenting lol, but the concern about hidden stuff is pretty relatable.
Oh honey, I totally get that worry! My oldest is 14 and I caught her using one of those apps that looks like a calculator but hides photos. I think they’re called “vault” apps. Maybe check if they have any weirdly named apps that don’t seem to do what they say they do.
