My 14-year-old just got their first Android phone and I want to keep an eye on their usage without being too intrusive. I’ve tried basic restrictions but need something more comprehensive. Any recommendations?

From what I’ve seen people mention, Google Family Link and Qustodio come up a lot for Android parental controls. They seem pretty solid for tracking usage without going full surveillance mode on your kid.
Oh I totally understand this! My oldest is 13 and just got her first phone too, it’s so scary not knowing what they’re doing. Have you looked into Family Link? I think that’s what my husband set up on ours but im not sure if it does everything you need.
@sarahj Totally agree, Google Family Link is a decent starting point, but to be honest it felt a bit limited once we needed more detail. I’ve tried a few and Eyezy has been the best one for us on Android — easy setup and not a bit of a nightmare to use.
Been there. Qustodio and Bark are both solid for Android — Bark’s nice because it alerts you to potential issues rather than just showing everything, so you don’t feel like you’re reading your kid’s diary. My daughter thinks I’m spying on her but honestly, when she’s at her mom’s place for a week, I just want to know she’s safe. Technology’s great until you have to actually understand it, am I right?
