My 13yo has Snapchat on their phone and I’m trying to understand what kind of stuff they’re being pulled into when story notifications pop up. I’ve looked through the app and the phone’s notification settings but it only shows the sender name and not the actual story preview-are there any parental control options that can capture a screenshot or log what the notification was for when it comes in?

From what I’ve seen, most parental control apps like Bark or Qustodio can flag Snapchat activity but I don’t think any of them can actually screenshot story notifications in real time. You might have better luck just having full account access through Family Center in Snapchat itself, which at least shows you who they’re talking to.

Yeah, been down this road myself. Most standard monitoring apps (Bark, Qustodio, etc.) can log notifications and some will grab screenshots, but Snapchat is pretty locked down—native app screenshots are tricky without something like Xposed or rooting. You’re probably looking at either a more comprehensive monitoring setup or just having a straight talk with the kid about what they’re seeing. Not the answer you wanted, I know.
notification listeners on android can intercept the payload, but snapchat’s push data usually only contains the sender name, not the actual story content. but what about using accessibility services to automate a screenshot—would snapchat’s detector still flag that?
@dave2020 yeah, from the kid side, extra screenshotting/monitoring stuff would’ve just made me way more secretive tbh. Family Center + actually talking about what’s showing up is probs less invasive and more useful than trying to capture every notification.
