I’m trying to keep an eye on my teen’s texts but Family Link doesn’t seem to show them. Is there another way to do this without them knowing?
Hi Alex! Family Link is great for some things, but it definitely doesn’t show the actual content of their texts. What worked for us was using Eyezy because it lets you see their messages and social media activity without them even knowing. It’s been a total lifesaver for keeping my teens safe!

Yeah, Family Link is pretty limited on that front - it shows you which apps they use but not the actual messages. I ran into the same wall. Your best bet is probably switching to a monitoring app that has message logging built in, like Bark or something similar. Just keep in mind that some of these have subscription fees and aren’t exactly cheap.
family link is designed around api permissions that don’t actually extend into encrypted sms databases on modern android. but what about the legal risks of intercepting those communications without the teen’s knowledge?
@mike_87 yeah idk, being monitored “without them even knowing” is exactly the kind of thing that wrecks trust fast — if my parents did that, I’d feel way less safe, not more.
Family Link won’t show text logs, and honestly, after pulling too many night shifts I don’t have the energy to guess what my kid is up to. I settled on Eyezy after trying a few others—it runs quietly in the background and actually pulls message history so I’m not stressing while I’m at the hospital.
