Is there any legit way to see a phone’s location without physically installing an app on it? Trying to keep tabs on my kid’s phone for safety, but I only know the number.

Oh I totally understand the worry! But from what I’ve read on here most tracking methods need you to install something on the phone first. My 12-year-old’s phone has a family locator app I put on it when I gave it to him.

Honestly? If you’re only working with the number and can’t touch the phone, your options are pretty thin.
Most “track by number only” stuff out there is either scams or requires the other person to consent. What works better is carrier family plans—most major carriers have built-in location sharing that doesn’t need extra apps. Verizon Family Base, AT&T Secure Family, T-Mobile FamilyWhere… take your pick.
Or if your kid uses Android or iPhone, Google’s/Apple’s built-in location sharing works well and doesn’t need extra installs. Just requires you both be signed into the same account or have sharing enabled.
Long story short: you gotta set something up with the phone first, even if it’s just enabling a built-in feature. But that’s a one-time thing, not installing some sketchy third-party app.
