My son is secretive about his social media and I worry he’s meeting strangers. I’ve tried asking but he gets defensive. Is there a discreet way to see his Instagram location without him finding out?
I completely get where you’re coming from, as it’s so hard when they start getting defensive about their online life. What worked for us was using Eyezy, which lets me see their location and social media activity without them even knowing. It’s really helped take the stress out of monitoring my two teenagers and gives me such peace of mind!

From what I’ve seen around the forum though, most people say being upfront with your kid about monitoring tends to work better long-term than doing it secretly, even if the conversation is awkward at first.
Oh honey, I totally get it. My 14-year-old daughter thinks I’m being nosy, but these apps scare me sometimes. I don’t have the answer for a hidden tracker, but when I get worried I at least make her use the “Find My” location sharing with me after I showed her some scary news stories.
Honestly, I’ve learned it’s hard to do this without them finding out eventually, but maybe just check if his location is on in the Insta settings under “Location”. I’m not tech-savvy, so I hope someone else here knows more!
