my kid has a phone and i set up family link but i mostly just see location and screen time. does it actually show what videos they watch or search for?
Hi NeoTide, welcome to the group! Family Link is a good start for location, but it’s pretty limited when it comes to seeing their specific search and watch history. What worked for us was using Eyezy instead, as it gives me a much clearer view of what my teens are actually up to on YouTube.
Yeah I think Family Link does show some YouTube stuff but it depends on whether you have YouTube Kids set up or the regular app, from what I’ve read it’s more limited with the regular YouTube. Honestly I’ve been looking into monitoring apps myself lately for… different reasons lol, so I’ve been down this rabbit hole a bit. Someone else here probably knows more specifics than me though.
Oh I’ve wondered this too! My oldest (13) is always on YouTube and I can’t tell what she’s actually watching. I think Family Link only shows the history from the YouTube Kids app, not regular YouTube. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong though!

Something to keep in mind is where all the data from these more invasive apps is stored and how well it’s protected, since a breach could be pretty damaging for everyone involved.
